You must not erect a structure or pond without written permission from the AGA, and your application must comply with all aspects of the rules or overarching policy, all of which are available on this website the members area.

Key requirements for all structure applications

• In erecting any structures, including paths, utility areas and composting, the Tenant must observe that 75% of the plot must be given over to cultivation
• No structure shall cause undue shade to neighbouring plots, block paths etc and must leave a minimum width of 500mm all round for maintenance and not obstruct access for a wheelbarrow/trolley truck.
• Maximum size of a shelter/ similar structure, 3 sqm – 2.0m x 1.5m
• Maximum size of a greenhouse, 5 sqm – 2m x 2.5m. A greenhouse may be wooden or aluminium. Polycarbonate or plastic is preferred but if glass is used it must be safety glass.
• The maximum size of a polytunnel should not exceed 6 square meters for a quarter plot and 10 square meters for a half or full plot.
• All structures must have water capture equipment attached to them which must be covered with a solid lid
• All structures must be on a solid base such as paving slabs which is to reduce the attraction of vermin.

Key requirements for Pond applications

• The pond may cover a maximum area of 3 sq. mt. – e.g. 2m x 1.5m or 1.75m x 1.75.
• The pond must be covered with a rigid metal grille or mesh cover strong enough to support a child’s weight should they fall into the pond. The grille aperture should not exceed 120x120mm (5”).
• The metal grille should be installed securely and not sag below the water surface.
• The depth of the pond should not exceed 450mm (17”)
• The pond must have gently sloping edges of 15cm (6” depth) or less, all around as this is crucial for amphibians and birds.

Do not make this application unless you can comply with all the rules and any covering policies e.g. Pond Policy. 

If your application does not comply it will be automatically rejected
